March 4, 2021

The project was funded by the Polish-American Freedom Foundation under the RITA - “Region in Transition” Program. The project provided for familiarization with the Polish experience of intersectoral cooperation between public non-governmental organizations, the city Hall of Bishkek, and higher educational institutions represented by Ala-Too International University.

Within the framework of the project, in the initial version, educational visits of representatives of public organizations, higher educational institutions, and the City Hall of Bishkek to Poland were planned. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, the project was implemented online through videos, online training, and online meetings of Polish and Kyrgyz representatives of NGOs, universities, and local governments to discuss the possibilities and prospects of intersectoral cooperation.

As a result of the project, the Vice-Rector of Ala-Too International University Halil Koch expressed on behalf of the university a great interest in intersectoral cooperation and readiness to become a platform for this cooperation. There were also a lot of proposals on how to develop intersectoral cooperation from the participants. After regular meetings and discussions, the AIU proposed to sign a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Bishkek City Hall, NGOs, and AIU and start implementing in practice the acquired academic knowledge within the project.

On the last day of the project, proposals were discussed on how to develop cooperation between Poland and Kyrgyzstan. The Chairman of the Management Board of the Foundation for Management Initiatives, Mr. Pavel Prokop, expressed his readiness to cooperate in the future in the framework of other projects and to provide any academic assistance outside the project. Of all the proposals, Polish colleagues were interested in creating a Polish - Kyrgyz research center based on Ala-Too International University.
