Global Conversations Conference

The second annual Global Conversations conference took place from May 30th-June 1st. Day one was at Ala-Too University, and days two and three were at IUK’s Central Campus. The conference was organized by Fulbright scholar Jon Mahoney, Professor of Philosophy at Kansas State University.

The format of the conference was unique in that it consisted of a combination of traditional academic talks in philosophy, literature, and related areas of the humanities, but also artistic performances including dance, a documentary film, and a presentation of “alive painting.” The conference also including an optional tour to Issyk-Ata and a historical walking tour of Bishkek. International participants included academics and artists from the following countries: Japan, Bulgaria, Singapore, Germany, Poland, Spain, Norway, England, and the U.S. Several local faculty also gave presentations, including from IUK, AUCA, and Ala-Too University. All participants are extremely grateful to Ala-Too University and IUK for serving as hosts to the conference.
