Guidelines for Outgoing Erasmus Students

Erasmus+KA171 is the International Credit Mobility Program sponsored by the European Union where participants get academic, personal and cultural development at one of the European universities with the benefit of 800/850 euros monthly and 820 euros for travel expenses. AIU students who have excellent academic achievements and good level of English can participate in the competition and successful candidates will be awarded with Erasmus grants. One of the main functions of the International Relations Office is to facilitate and coordinate Erasmus+ students mobility programs on the basis of open, transparent and merit based policy. The IRO inner selection process for students within Erasmus+ KA1 are carried out according to the following criteria.

The first stage of the selection process is carried out by AIU International Relations Office, on the basis of such criteria as: eligibility, academic excellence, motivation, proficiency of English. 

Eligibility Criteria for students:

  • GPA score - 87 + 

  • English Language level - C1 +

  • The candidates cannot be enrolled in their first and last semester of their studies.

  • Not the grantee who already participated in Erasmus+ KA171   

The students should submit to Office of International Relations the following documents:

  • Application Form

  • Official Transcript of records 

  • English Language certificate- TOEFL IBT ( 80+), PBT (550),  IELTS (6+). In case you do not have a Language Certificate, you have to take an English Language test at the Continuous Education Center of AIU (A-107) to confirm your English language level.

  • Motivation Letter (the candidates should introduce themselves; prove why they are the ones who should win the scholarship. The candidates are to show their passions, interests, hobbies, list any voluntary work at the University or in different institutions, local communities etc. The candidates are to describe their international experience and achievements if they have any). 

  • Scan of a passport – page with a picture (in case somebody doesn’t have one, scanned copy of national ID).

The second stage of the selection process is carried out by the International Relations Office and the Faculty Coordinators (responsible people for international relations of the faculties). In the second stage eligible candidates are invited to the face to face interview. Candidates are shortlisted according to the following criteria:

  1. Academic capacity 30%

  2.  Motivation letter 30%

  3.  Interview 40%  

Successful candidates are allocated and nominated to the partner universities according to the appropriateness of their faculties, departments. Depending on host universities’ requirements nominated applicants have to submit additional documents:

  • Application form of receiving university

  • Learning Agreement  (a document where applicants have to choose courses at host university. Applicants have to choose the disciplines very accurately in assistance with the Head of Departments. Selected courses along with credit hours at home and host Universities must coincide at least for 80%. If there is minimum or no coincidence of credits between home and host universities, applicants may risk to prolong their study until they complete missed credits)

  • Language Certificate 

  • Proof of enrolment in a programme in a home university stating the start date of studies and foreseen end date

  • Other documents 

The documents can be changed according to receiving university requirements. The International Relations Office supports outgoing Erasmus participants in visa issues.
